A New Connection for Denver
On December 15, 2012 Volaris Airline will begin flying from Mexico City to Denver Colorado. This new flight will be the only Mexico based airline offering year round
service between the two cities. Aeromexico and United provide flights on a seasonal basis only. Mexicana flew the Denver to Mexico City route before declaring bankruptcy
in August 2010
“Trade with Mexico has tripled since the onset of the Free Trade Agreement in 1994
and 40% of all imports from Mexico are categorized as “value added” which means that
from a trade standpoint, our country’s fortunes grow as Mexico’s fortunes grow”, said
a spokesperson in Washington D.C.
“These flights are important becasue they facilitate realtions, both economic and cultural, as well as travel and tourism”, said Paul Washington, Denver’s Director of
Economic Development.
A trade delegation from Denver has been in Mexico City this week studying the distribution around the U.S. of Mexican goods from a central Denver hub, as well as energy technology; particulary gas and clean tech, and of course tourism.
The delegation will return to Denver on the inagural fight of Volaris Airlines
on Saturday December 15th. 2012.
