Improved Border Safety
Improved border safety was the focus for the talks held in Mexico this week:
The Secretary of Homeland Security of the United States travelled to Mexico for talks with the Attorney General of Mexico on March 19 of this week.
Up until now, each country acted quite independently, each using it’s own criteria for justice and the ever present problems that come with sharing a border.
Both Attorney General of Mexico, Jesus Murillo and Jeh Johnson, the Secretary of Homeland Security of the United States, agreed to step up activities and act together in order to co-ordinate a much needed improvement of safety along the border of these two countries.
Mexico and the United States share a border of approximately 3,200 kilometers which makes it the longest border on the American continent.
Unfortunately this border is also the most troublesome, due to the constant flow of illegal immigrants, the illegal buying and selling of drugs as well as the crossing of weapons from the United States into Mexico and finally the exploitation of minors.
The border of the United States and Mexico is the busiest border in the entire world, with a daily crossing of more than one milion people and over 350,000 cars and trucks.
