Hugo Chavez: A Presidential Delay?
Ramon Guillermo Aveledo, who leads the opposition in Venezuela to the party of Hugo Chavez, told Globovision television today that Hugo Chavez is not governing at all. The country is being led to believe that Hugo Chavez is actively governing Venezuela. In reality, the people do not know of Hugo Chavez’s current health nor of his actual physical location.
The opposition party also stated “the only legal way the oath of office ceremony can be delayed
is if congress approves a ‘temporary absence’ for the president.
This would leave the head of the National Assembly as the acting president of Venezuela
for 90 days. The postponement could even be renewed for another 90 days.”
What is your opinion of the current state of affairs in Venezuela?
Should Hugo Chavez be permitted to continue his new presidential term? Do you think
perhaps that new elections should be held?
I really don’t know what to think. As an American I am inclined to think about justice
and fairness and above all transparency in government dealings.
Even after all the years I lived in Mexico, I never witnessed anything there that could give me
an objective perspective on this situation in Venezuela.
